Holy Island, isn't. That's about all I can say to be honest. The wildlife in the dunes area is interesting, but the village which surrounds Lindisfarne Priory is very touristy which really detracts from any sense of spirituality that may at one time have inspired the monks of centuries ago. I was disappointed I have to say.
The Castle is an interesting example of a 20th century make-over! From centuries old bastion of Holy Island it was remodelled by the Arts and Crafts architect Lutyens in the early 1900s to form a summer residence for a notable Edwardian Edward Hudson who sought a holiday refuge from London life.
It was a beautiful sunny day today and the cycle there and back, probably about 7 miles each way, was most enjoyable, and no mechanicals today!
We spotted grey seals en masse off the sand bars and a colony of cormorant and shag along with an as yet unidentified bird which I think is a rock pippit. We also had a fantastic aerial display by skylarks too as we sat in the dunes.

Updated from Kinross service station where there's a decent 3G signal!
We now head to Crieff for a couple of nights, no phones, no computers, no comms, a chance just to be.
Final post will be done on Monday.
