Finally!!
I have made it back
into the digital world! Hoorah!
The last few days have been incredibly frustrating. The campsite at West Runton (North Norfolk)
had good phone signals (T-mobile and Vodafone) but only for text and calls, not
internet, so tethering my netbook proved impossible and ended up with my phone
failing completely. The site had no
wifi.
A failing phone meant we made a trip to Norwich yesterday to
try and sort the problem out (too wet to do anything we'd planned outdoors). Apparently
there is nothing they can do in-store (thanks BlackBerry) so it’s been sent
away and will be returned to Elgin in a week or so. Meantime I bought another handset so we could
access my number and internet connections (something we use a lot when
travelling in Elly planning various routes and itineraries etc, and checking
the weather - more of that in a moment).
Alas, although I clearly asked the adviser for a phone that
had the functionality of my broken phone I walked away with one that didn’t. It’s taken me until this evening to work out
why a particular function won’t work. Hopefully
that will be solved overnight now I’ve had a 'livechat' (typing) with Vodafone
(in Eygpt I believe, makes a change from Bangalore I suppose …). I shall be having words with the Manager in
Elgin when we finally arrive home!
Due to the loss of phone function, and poor phone signal at
this site, I’ve just been through an extraordinary sequence of manoeuvres to
move a picture I took this morning on the new phone over to the netbook to
publish for your delight on this blog (I shan’t bore you with details but it
involved Adrian’s phone, Bluetooth, email and a trip around the ether via Hawaii
judging by the time it’s taken!). Are
you sitting comfortably … here is today’s photograph (this represents the last
3 days I regret to say putting pay to the plans we had made).

It rained almost continuously from the moment we arrived on
Monday afternoon until we left on Thursday morning. Imagine a campsite with 200 pitches (nearly full) during half term and it doesn't stop raining ... The purpose of heading to Norfolk was to do
some serious bird watching at Cley-next-the-sea. We finally
managed a couple of hours this morning when we stopped en route to our current
location at Woodhall Spa. I shall update
the blog tomorrow with all the birds we saw.
It was worth the trip in the end, just a shame it wasn’t better
weather-wise as it was too cold (wet and windy) to sit for an extended period.
To round up today’s catch-up post here are some more
photographs from the wedding I’ve managed to cobble together.
